Restaurants can choose to use their own drivers to deliver their orders, either in isolation or in conjunction with third-party drivers.
How do I enable self-delivery?
On the Settings>Dispatch page you will see a setting, Who will be doing your deliveries.
Simply toggle the switch beside Your own drivers.
Next, click on Self delivery on the Settings menu. Here you are able to apply a number of settings, specific to self-delivery.
Now, you will need to add your drivers on the Drivers page.
Add the driver's first and last name, and then enter their phone number.
Upon creation, the driver will receive a text message inviting them to download the mobile app and activate their account.
Once the driver has activated their account and has gone online, they will become available to deliver orders.
I have self-delivery enabled. Which of my employees are considered for deliveries?
As a pre-requisite, ensure your drivers have:
Accepted the connection request to your company
Downloaded the InhouseDelivery app
Configured the app (selected their vehicle type; enabled location services).
To be considered as part of the auto-dispatch process, drivers must be 'online' as a driver at that location.
Any online drivers who already have the maximum number of orders assigned to them will not be considered.
If manually assigning, reassigning, or re-dispatching a delivery, you may also be able to assign deliveries to other employees who are not currently online.
How does IHD decide which of my drivers to route an order to?
We consider a number of factors when considering the best driver to route the order to:
How many deliveries each driver currently has
The current location of each driver (if no orders)
The expected completion time and location of the current order/s assigned to a driver, using live traffic data
This information is weighted and scored to determine which driver is expected to be able to pick up the order first. A delivery request is then issued to the 'best' driver.
Example:
Sue and Tony are clocked in as drivers. Sue has two orders assigned to her, and Tony has one order assigned to him.
IHD calculates that Sue will be finished with both of her orders by 9:10pm, and will only be 5 minutes away from the restaurant when she completes the second order. Tony is expected to deliver his order at 9:20pm, and will be 8 minutes away from the restaurant. IHD therefore routes the delivery offer to Sue first as she is expected to return to the restaurant first.
Can I manually select which driver to assign an order to?
Yes. Refer to Manual assignments for more information.
What if a driver rejects a delivery offer?
Should a driver reject a delivery offer, or fail to accept the request within a given timeframe, the request will then be offered to the 'next best' driver.
What is the cost to dispatch orders to my own drivers?
Any driver fees and tips due will be payable directly by the restaurant to the driver.
Can I use both inhouse drivers and third-party drivers?
Yes. Simply enable both on the Dispatch settings page.
If both inhouse delivery and third-party delivery are enabled, inhouse drivers are always prioritized unless the delivery falls outside the maximum delivery radius for self-delivery.
If no inhouse drivers are available only then will the order be dispatched to a third-party provider.
